Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate a driver after a two vehicle collision sent two men and three women to the hospital on Sunday.
The collision occurred just after 3 p.m. on Black Road between McNabb Street and Second Line East, just in front of the entrance to Autorama Used Cars.
The two vehicles involved were a white Pontiac Vibe and a White Chrysler Sebring.
Firefighters needed to use the Jaws of Life and sheers to extricate a male passenger in the Sebring said Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services Platoon Chief Damon Ferris.
Other passengers were helped out of the vehicles, some in stretchers, by paramedics with Emergency Services and firefighters.
Ferris said the severity of the injuries was unknown.
The incident also involved a dog, which was taken to the Humane Society, said Ferris.
At least one vehicle was leaking engine oil and firefighters threw down absorbent on the road.
The Sebring had Michigan license plate but Ferris said he is not sure where they are from at this time.
Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was also on scene and blocked off traffic in both directions between Second Line and McNabb Street.
