432 (ALGOMA) Wing Air Force Association of Canada Celebrates 60 years in Sault Ste. Marie

Local Service Group Celebrates 60 Years.

On February 23rd 1953 a group of local individuals involved in Military and Civilian aviation, signed the charter which formed the 432 (Algoma) Wing of the Air Force Association of Canada.

Sixty years have passed since the formation of this group and to celebrate its illustrious history, the Wing is holding a special event at the Officer’s Mess, at the Sault Ste. Marie Armoury on Pine Street.

The event will take place on Saturday February 23, 2013. It is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

The Air Force Association is a group of like-minded men and women, who are involved in Military and Civilian aviation in this area and across Canada, who have banded together to share their common interest in supporting Canadian aviation.

The Association is concerned with keeping aviation traditions alive and with the development of the youth of our community.

Locally they support the 155 Borden-Gray GC, Royal Canadian Air Cadets in many ways.

They are also at the forefront when it comes to the development of our country’s Air Force and routinely advise the Government through their National office in Ottawa.

Some of the members also work at aviation museums across Canada to help keep aviation history alive.

Many of these individuals have served or are presently serving, in the Royal Canadian Air Force and have settled in the area.

Four of the members have received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal this year, for their community involvement.

Members and former members of the Air Force Association of Canada and the Royal Canadian Air Force Association are encouraged to attend and renew old acquaintances, share stories and see where We are Sixty Years later.

RSVP to, John C. Hooper 705-248-1233 or Clyde Healey 705-946-2464 by February 18, 2013, so that a place can be reserved for you.

When you see a veteran say ”Thank you.”
