29 new COVID cases reported by Algoma Public Health, all in Sault area

The region currently has 113 active cases and seven hospitalizations

After reporting 25 new COVID-19 cases in the region on Thursday, Algoma Public Health is reporting 29 more today (Friday).

All 29 new cases are in the Sault Ste. Marie area and bring the number of active cases in the region to 113 as of 5 p.m. Friday.

Of the active cases, seven people are hospitalized.

The new cases include 24 people who were infected through close contact with a known confirmed case, four who fall under the exposure category of unknown, and one who was infected through international travel.

Unknown exposure means the individual did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

All 29 individuals were tested in the past 48 hours and are currently self-isolating.
