SAULT AREA HOSPITAL FOUNDATION
The Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) is pleased to announce a donation of $250,000 from Hospital Infrastructure Partners (HIP), towards their $550,000 pledge.
The remaining $300,000 will be paid out over the remainder of the 30 year contract between SAH and HIP.
HIP is comprised of EllisDon, Carillion and Fengate Capital and is the private consortium that provided the design, construction, financing and maintenance for the Sault Area Hospital.
“We are grateful to Hospital Infrastructure Partners for their tremendous support and desire to promote health care excellence in Algoma. The patients in our community and surrounding area will benefit as a result of this donation toward the purchase of highly specialized, and often very expensive equipment needed to meet patient needs” says Dr. Heather O’Brien, Chief of Staff.
This donation will kick start SAHF’s Annual Campaign to raise over $1.2 million to support the acquisition of the latest technology and help to ensure that the people of Sault Ste. Marie and area will always have access to proven advancements in healthcare.
Some of the equipment required by the hospital includes: fetal monitors to check well-being of babies in labour, ear/nose/throat laryngoscopes for the surgical care area, electronic calipers for the cardiac catheterization lab and intra-aortic balloon pumps for the Intensive Care Unit.
SAHF is the primary source of funding for capital equipment for the hospital and relies on the generosity of the citizens and businesses of Sault Ste. Marie and the surrounding area for financial support.
During the past year, the Foundation provided more than $1.1 million for the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment, information technology and education.
