10-year-old Echo Bay girl lands big bass using her hands

As she was bringing the 22-inch fish in on her own the line snapped at the hole

This morning was quite an adventure for 10-year-old Summer Penney.

The girl went out fishing in front of her home on Cloudy Lake in Echo Bay and managed to catch a 22-inch bass.

"As she was bringing it in on her own, the line snapped at the hole, and she very swiftly stuck her arm down the hole and managed to grab the fish with her bare hands," her mom, Marissa Penney, wrote in an email.

This fish is quite large and could potentially compete with the Ontario record, in which the largemouth bass weighed 10.43 pounds.
