Over the weekend the 12th annual Canadian Aboriginal Festival was held at the SkyDome in Toronto. Friday night the spotlight was shining on music with The 7th annual Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards Show.

Tagaq (Tanya Tagaq Gillis) from Nunavut won top honours with three awards including Best Female Artist. Tagaq is a throat singer who last year appeared on Bjork's album leading to international acclaim.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers kicker Troy Westwood 'Little Hawk' won the Best Folk Album & Best Album. Here is the complete winners list:
