There is a creative new form of written art that has quietly grown in popularity in recent years. It is known as the "blog."

The blog, or weblog, is an online digital diary, journal, or collection of ramblings that showcases some amazingly talented writers in a Do-It-Yourself-style online forum. Blogs are used for various reasons. Some blog writers have opinions or advice they wish to share, whereas others are just keen to bare their soul online. If not well-written, blogs are usually very entertaining.

Certain blogs have a readership equalling that of small newspapers and magazines. The Internet now has a number of celebrity bloggers, a group that includes actors, journalists and politicians, and some people who have become famous exclusively for their online writings.

We at the Sootoday Arts Page would like to post a list of local "blog" writers who would like to target a bigger audience. So if you would like to expose yourselves to us, we at the Sootoday Arts Page indeed like to watch (and we know that some of our readers will too).

For wannabe writers, it is very easy to set up a blog. Most are hosted by one of the many free blogging services available across the internet at sites like www.livejournal.com.

Send your blog addresses to [email protected].
