Dream Big: Baawating Arts Festival

Sept. 27 to 29 at 4:00 p.m. the NIAA Northern Indigenous Artist Alliance hosts the Baawating Arts Festival in Baawating (Sault Ste. Marie), part of Dream Big 2019. Featuring music, film, comedy, and art from Northern Ontario's top Indigenous talent. Outdoor Indigenous Arts Market showcasing Indigenous arts, crafts, and food vendors. All events are open to the public and are offered at no cost/pay-what-you-can, thanks to the support of the Ontario Arts Council - Conseil des arts de l'Ontario.

IFC PD Day Family Swim

Keep the family active during a day off of school. Please remember that all of the rules of the pool apply during the swim. The swim is open to all community members. No registration is required. The change rooms usually open at 2:30, the swim is from 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the John Rhodes Community Centre Pool.

Rabbit Party

The Marconi's Traditional Rabbit Party is just around the corner! Don't wait to reserve your table for this magnificent feast! Stop by or call the office 705-942-5556 to reserve your table! Friday from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

An Evening of Horror

On Friday, Sept. 27 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Come on out and meet David Howard Thornton (ART THE CLOWN), Damien Leone (Writer/Director of TERRIFIER), Rob Sacchetto (Rob Zombie Portraits) and Douglas A. Ewen (Director of BIPOLARIOD). We will have snacks provided by Low & Slow, an exclusive numbered Art the Clown print done by Rob Sacchetto, viewings of Bipolariod AND Terrifier as well as a meet & greet with photo op/autograph op with all 4 guys.

Saturday

Sault International Festival of Races

Join up to 500 runners as part of the Sault International Festival of Races (formerly the Sault International Marathon) on Saturday from 7:15 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Sept. 28, 2019! Now in its 10th year, the Sault International Festival of Races provides runners with a unique opportunity to run the Sault Ste Marie International Bridge and run alongside the St. Marys River, all set against the backdrop of beautiful fall foliage and cool E.U.P. temperatures.

SDU'S Car Wash and BBQ

Join Soo Dance Unlimited for a carwash and BBQ fundraiser at Northside Toyota from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 28.

Steel City NerdCon & Nostalgia

Looking for something fun and exciting to do in the Sault? Vintage Games 'N Junque presents Steel City NerdCon & Nostalgia this Saturday at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Gala Latina

The first Gala Latina on Sept. 28, 2019 at the Delta Hotel from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Come and enjoy the first ever Latin-Hispanic Fundraising Dinner and Dance Gala in support of the Northern Ontario Latin-Hispanic Association (NOLHA). The evening's event will be an incredible red carpet Gala featuring live singers, salsa dance performances and lessons, live Cuban music band showcasing Latin-Hispanic culture in Canada. Your ticket gives you access to this fun night as well as a Spanish inspired dinner. Tickets are $63/person and must be purchased in advance via eventbrite

Scottish Country Dancing

You can take part in this internationally-popular type of dance right here in the Sault, learning lively jigs and reels and the distinctively Scottish Strathspey. No partner is needed just bring soft-soled indoor shoes and a water bottle. Beginners’ classes start Saturday morning, Sept. 28 at St. Basil Catholic Elementary School on St. George's Ave. E. from 9:50 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The first three classes are free, but registration is required. NERF WARS

Drop your kids off with their NERF arsenal at FunFarm Indoor Play Center for a fun filled night of games and challenges throughout the Fun Farm building. Organized games include Capture the Flag, Bombardment, Team Elimination, Obstacle Course, pizza, drinks and snacks provided. Ages 7 - 12. Saturday. Sept. 28 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Sunday

Free Fall Fun Day with Bounce Houses/Inflatables

This Sunday join Lifespring Church- Kotikirkko from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for free bouncy houses/inflatables, kids' obstacle course and some popcorn! All kids are welcome to join in the fun. Please note there is a minimum 36" height requirement for playing on these LARGE inflatables and bouncy houses!!!

Echo Bay Elks Family Fish Fry

All You Can Eat Fish Fry (Chicken Also Served) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The meal also includes baked beans, potato, salad, bread, dessert, tea, coffee, juice. Echo Bay Elks Hall - 96 Church Street, Echo Bay, ON. Adults $15, children 6-12 years $9, 5 years and under are free.
