Lights, camera, action!

The Sault Ste. Marie Public Library is now accepting submissions for the 2020 Teen Video Contest.

This year's challenge is to create a two- to five-minute video on a book of your choice. Whether it’s a review, trailer, stop-motion production of your favourite scene, or something entirely different – all of it counts as long as it’s book-inspired!

Bring your completed video to either library location on a USB stick by 4 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2020. The winner will be announced by 4 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2020.

All contestants must be 13-19 years of age in order to enter. Create your video alone or as part of a team of up to three people. The creator(s) of the winning video will receive a prize pack including a $75 Best Buy gift certificate; teams will split the prize equally between all members.

To get inspiration or help with your video, visit the Digital Creator North Studio at the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library, at both the Centennial and North Branch locations. Both locations have plenty of software and equipment to help you complete the video challenge. Be sure to check out the Shaw Spotlight Workshop on camera basics at the North Branch, March 11, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. If you attend any Digital Creator programming, you’ll get bonus points for the challenge!

To register for the Teen Video Contest, please visit the James L. McIntyre Centennial Library or North Branch Library. For more information, please call 705-759-5236.
