NEWS RELEASE
NORTHERN LIGHTS FESTIVAL BOREAL
********************************
Northern Lights Festival Boréal (NLFB) is the signature music and arts festival of Northern Ontario, taking place in Sudbury since 1972.  The organization has made the inevitable decision to cancel its festival scheduled for July 9-12, 2020, due to the COVID-19 crisis, and the evolving health and safety concerns in this unprecedented time. NLFB cares deeply for the health and safety of its diverse and enthusiastic community.

NLFB has been actively monitoring the situation, and seeking expert advice from a variety of sources, including the Public Health Sudbury and Districts, the Canadian Centre for Disease Control, and the Canadian Live Music Association. NLFB’s top priority is and will remain the health and safety of its participants, stakeholders, volunteers, staff and patrons.

For those who have purchased advance tickets, NLFB is offering three options. Option #1 is converting the ticket purchase into a charitable donation. NLFB is a registered charity and will issue a receipt for 100 per cent of the value. Option #2 is rolling over the ticket to the 2021 edition scheduled for July 8-11. Patrons will simply be given access to this edition instead. Option #3 is a full refund, which can be processed through the NLFB office. NLFB is asking that those who are able consider options #1 and #2, to help support NLFB through these uncertain times. Online ticket buyers will receive an email in the coming weeks regarding these options, while others can check nlfb.ca for updates. NLFB is asking for the patience and understanding of its community as it addresses this situation.

NLFB will make efforts to present many of the artists originally scheduled for the 2020 edition at the 2021 edition. For example, NLFB audiences will still be able to witness American Folk Icon Judy Collins (previously announced). Her performance is now scheduled to perform July 11, 2021 in Sudbury's Bell Park. An on-sale date has not yet been confirmed for 2021 advance passes.

While planning is still underway, NLFB is planning some new initiatives aimed at delivering diverse high quality music and art experiences via unique live-streamed performances and other programming. NLFB also looks forward to once again bringing the community back together to enjoy amazing live music experiences, in a true festival setting.

More information regarding refunds and donations can be found here, on NLFB’s social media pages, or by emailing [email protected].
