It's heartwarming to see the spirit of giving is alive and well in Sault Ste. Marie.

Wednesday evening, the Lock City Grand Theatre played host to Sick Jams For Sick Kids.

The fundraising event for the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto featured local bands Aftersight, Sense of Truth, Fury, Garden of Bedlam, and the Scary Uncles.

First-time event organizer Charli Henshaw told SooToday.com she was overwhelmed by the generosity of those involved and that very little money was spent to bring this concert to life.

All the bands donated their time and contributed to marketing efforts.

The sound system, lights and tech support were generously provided by Crank Sound Distribution and TenarisAlgomaTubes.

The Lock City Grand Theatre offered the venue free of charge.

Many supporters of the cause donated their time to act as security so the event could be open to all ages.

And Josh Dobbs of Love Ink furnished a raffle table with many items up for grabs, including t-shirts, artwork and tattoo gift certificates.

Representatives from Energy Rock Radio, including DJ Ryeman, were on hand to emcee the event.

The local internet radio station also provided a live video feed of the entire show for those who could not attend.

The event raised an estimated $1,500 to $2,000 for the Hospital for Sick Children.
