20th anniversary event kicks off with screening of locally-shot 'Giant Little Ones'

SHADOWS OF THE MIND FILM FESTIVAL

The Shadows of the Mind Film Festival is excited to announce this year’s lineup featuring 28 select films from around the world, set to screen Feb. 23 to March 3, 2019 in Sault Ste. Marie. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, the festival will kick-off with a gala celebration and fundraiser event featuring the locally-shot feature film, Giant Little Ones, on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Sault Community Theatre Centre.

The festival commences Feb. 25 with each weekday filled with meaningful theme-focused documentaries and dramas, many with panel discussions, and by donation/pay what you can admission. Returning this year is the Sault College’s short film program, Reel Northern Flicks.

Evening and weekend lineups will feature internationally acclaimed cinema with award winning films. The Guilty, Ben is Back and Virgin Mountain are just a few of the highlights. A strong Canadian selection includes the inspiring true story, The Grizzlies, and the powerful documentary, Anthropocene: The Human Epoch.

Several guest filmmakers will be in attendance for audience Q&As – filmmaker Megan Durnford, I Am still Your Child; and the writer/director Michelle Derosier, Angelique’s Isle, a film shot in Thunder Bay.

Tickets go on sale at the Shadows Box Office on February, 13, 2019 in the Station Mall, Dennis Street entrance. It will be open from Monday to Friday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12-5 p.m. Cost saving five movie vouchers and movie tickets will also be available for purchase online.
