SHADOWS OF THE MIND FILM FESTIVAL

The 17th annual Shadows of the Mind Film Festival is set to run from February 23–28, 2016.

This year’s festival will present 6 days of cinema from around the world, including Canadian premieres, films with panel discussions, guest speakers, and the return of our ‘Reel Northern Flicks: Short Films.’

The film Coconut Hero, that was filmed in Sault Ste. Marie in the summer of 2014 will be screened at The Grand Theatre February 27 at 12:15 p.m.

Out of town guests include Randi Silverman, writer and producer of the feature ‘No Letting Go,’ a story of a teenager and his family who live with mental illness.  Saultite Steven McCarthy returns home and will screen ‘O Negative’, one of TIFF's Top Ten Shorts.

Powerful documentaries, Canadian cinema at its best, hugely entertaining foreign cinema, and laugh out loud comedies are part of this year’s festival line up.

The Shadows Gala will be held at the Willow Teaching Restaurant (Sault College), February 24, starting at 6 p.m. followed by the Gala film ‘Infinitely Polar Bear’ at 8 p.m., which stars Mark Ruffalo.

Gala tickets, which include the film, are $40 and must be purchased in advance.

The box office opens on February 12 at 11:30 a.m., at the Station Mall, Dennis Street entrance.
