Seen under the little big top (17 photos)

Friday was the first of four performances by Vague de Cirque to be hosted throughout the weekend at the Machine Shop

From a tiny round stage in the middle of a little yellow tent, a seven-person Vague de Cirque performance troupe captivated an intimate Sault Ste. Marie audience. The Friday night showcase, featuring trapeze, roue cyr, Chinese pole, acrobatics, plenty of humour and more, was the first of four performances to be hosted throughout the weekend at the Machine Shop.

“We try to go as far as possible… in Canada to bring circus where there’s no circus,” Vague de Cirque co-founder Alain Boudreau told SooToday during an interview earlier this week.

“It’s very touching. Sometimes you meet people who never have access to circus or other arts, so they don’t know what to say. But you feel it. You’re bringing something to them and it’s really playful.”

Vague de Cirque will perform twice on Saturday, at 2 and 7 p.m., and on Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for students, and $15 for children aged 12 and under. Family packages that include admission for two adults and two children are available for $80.

Tickets are available for purchase at the Machine Shop Box Office or online.
