SooToday.com's faithful readers came through to let us know we missed a couple former Saultites who have made it to the regional semi-final round in CBC's Searchlight music competition.

To Shane Chisholm (now living in Alberta) and The Marrieds (currently based in London), you have loyal fans back home in Sault Ste. Marie.

Listeners can vote for up to 10 artists per region per day until the end of this current round which wraps up Sunday, April 13 at 2:59 p.m.

CBC is once again on the hunt for Canada's best new artist with it's annual Searchlight competition.

Bands and musicians from across the country submitted songs for consideration during Searchlight's initial round.

CBC listeners began voting for their regional favourites on March 24 to determine the top 25 regional semi-finalists.

While a number of Sault artists threw their hats in for the first round, only two (that we can determine) made it into the semi-final round - Renee Landry (now living in the Ottawa region) and The O'Schraves.

Voting began Monday, April 7 to determine who will move on to each region's top 10 final round.

Fans have until Sunday, April 13 at 2:59 p.m. ET to vote for their favourites.

All of this is working towards choosing a final national competition winner who will receive a $20,000 credit toward the purchase of music equipment from Yamaha Music Canada, the opening slot with Tegan and Sara, and Spoon at the CBCMusic.ca Festival in Vancouver, an audio recording session with CBC and much more.
