SooToday received the following public notice from Bryan Nanni, chair of the Goulais River Recreation Committee regarding this year's Community Day weekend celebration:

On behalf of the Goulais River Recreation Committee, we regret to inform everybody that due to the pandemic, we have had to make the difficult decision to postpone this years' Community Day weekend set to take place in July. We sincerely apologize for this, and please understand this was not a decision we made lightly.

However, we are going to plan and prepare for a community day fall festival this September 19 weekend! So, please save the date.

We know that Community Day weekend is an awesome and important event for the community, and we are hopeful that social distancing restrictions will be lifted and we can ensure everyone's safety by this date.

The plan as of now is to try and have as many of the same events as possible that everyone is used to for Community Days. We are looking forward to the idea of having a fall festival harvest theme this year. In the coming months, we will let everyone know more concrete plans and ideas about the fall festival idea.

Here's hoping we can get through these difficult times and have something to celebrate this fall! Thank you for understanding!
