Pine Tones plan June release of original music (3 photos)

Working with Sault engineer Dustin Jones; White Pines talent to hold year end concert June 1

Greg MacLachlan, White Pines Collegiate music teacher, and Dustin Jones of Mission Control Studios have paired up to create an original EP album featuring songs written by the Pine Tones, White Pines' own group of student singers and musicians.

Dustin Jones is the owner of Tidal Records and Mission Control Studios. He is one of the Sault’s most well known artists, performers, and recording engineers. He has signed and promoted young bands and artists while still touring and making his own records.

“We've already been in the studio for a few sessions to lay down the basic tracks,” MacLachlan said in an email.

“We are preparing to record the remaining tracks in the next week or two. Dustin is doing an amazing job teaching and mentoring the Pine Tones about writing, recording, technical requirements, and the creative process in general,” MacLachlan said, appreciative of the opportunity given to the Pine Tones to record and promote their own music.

Meanwhile, the Pine Tones, the White Pines Concert Band and other talent at White Pines will be putting on a year end concert Wednesday, June 1st at 7 p.m. at the Sault Community Theatre Centre (located within White Pines Collegiate).

Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students. The original songs by the Pine Tones are a main feature of the show.

“We welcome the community to come on out and support local up and coming musical talent, and keep a watch out for the Pine Tones original EP coming out in June,” MacLachlan said.
