Algoma University’s annual community trick-or-treat was a great success, creating a festive and family-friendly celebration for the entire community. Families in costume, community members, and Algoma U students, staff and faculty came together to enjoy the event and support great causes.

The accessible route across campus welcomed just over 2000 participants to trick-or-treat at fourteen themed stations. Entry was made by donation to the Algoma University Students’ Union (AUSU) Food Pantry, which collected a generous amount of non-perishable food items. The event also raised an incredible $1,300 for the Children of Shingwauk Alumni Association.

“We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of generosity from our community,” shared Rachel Rankin, Algoma University’s Director of Student Life and Ancillary Services. “Every donation and every food item collected brings us one step closer to alleviating food insecurity for students and families in need and supporting the Survivors whose footsteps we follow daily. Together, we’re creating a stronger, more supportive community
