Merrifield Christmas CD Update

William Merrifield Students release festive CD!

What started as an idea presented by Tim Pearson (Principal) to his school council has turned into a 16 track CD consisting of classic and contemporary Christmas songs with a Christmas story and poem.

During the past several weeks the entire school took part in the recording project which included choirs from every grade, in addition to solo performances from individual staff and students. The School Community is ecstatic about the arrival of their product, and the CD is now available for sale!

Latest reports have close to a 100 CDs sold and Community First Credit Union is offering the CDs for sale to its members and customers.

Cost of the CD is only $10

All proceeds will be used within the school community to purchase primary playground equipment and help support its snack and soup program. William Merrifield School wishes to thank Sootoday.com and Community First Credit Union for helping support this special project.

About the Project

Frank Gioia (Learning Resource Teacher as well as Singer/Songwriter & Producer) engineered the project and was able to capture the spirit of Christmas. Several noted performers on the CD include Mr. Frank Raven Comery (Gr. 1 Teacher and former Radio Broadcaster-100.5 FM), Grade 8 singing sensation Ashley Wannamaker (Soo Jazz / Blues Festival), Laura Alopaeus (JK Teacher and local Singer/Songwriter) and Grade 8 student Danial O’Brien (actor with the Sault Theatre Workshop).

Ron Moffatt (School Custodian and Editorial Cartoonist for The Sault This Week & Sootoday.com) also provided a helping hand with the artwork on the CD cover.

Over the past years the students of William Merrifield have developed a rich tradition and are noted for their singing talents.

School Christmas Choirs have performed on local television Christmas Cheer Telethon shows and to the residents of the F.J. Davey Home as well as competing in the Kiwanis Music Festival.
