MFM and CIRAA launch mentorship opportunity for Northern Ontario musicians

Music and Film in Motion (MFM) has partnered with the Canadian Independent Recording Artists’ Association (CIRAA) to offer one Northern Ontario artist or act the opportunity to be mentored by an established Canadian recording artist.

For this iteration of the mentorship program, the successful Northern applicant will get valuable one-on-one time with Simon Walker of Toronto-based country-folk/indie rock band The Wooden Sky, whose much anticipated third album 'Let's Be Ready’ is due out this September on their very own label, Chelsea Records.

The mentorship sessions will take place for 15 hours over three months this fall.

The selected mentee will also have the chance to perform with The Wooden Sky at the Townehouse Tavern on September 18 as part of the Northern Ontario Music Showcase which will feature Northern Ontario’s best up and coming musical talent.

Artists from all over Northern Ontario who are interested in applying can visit CIRAA's website for details.
For information on what constitutes a Northern address, please consult this map.

Application deadline: August 22, 2014 @ 11:59 p.m. (EST)

Any questions? Contact Jen at [email protected].

CIRAA’s esteemed Mentorship Program has offered emerging Canadian artists access to Canadian music greats such as Feist, Shad, and members of Cuff the Duke and the Trews.
