Look who's up for a Gemini Award! (full list of nominees)

When she lived here in the Sault, we knew her as Ericka Hannah.

But today, she goes by Ericka Evans and works in Toronto for TVO Kids.

There, Ericka and her colleagues Marie McCann, Gisèle Corinthios and Pat Ellingson have been nominated for a 2006 Gemini Award for Best Preschool Program or Series, for their work on Gisèle's Big Backyard.

Also nominated for the same award are Miss BG, Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends, Poko and This is Daniel Cook.

The 21st Gemini Awards will be presented on November 4 at the River Rock Casino Resort in British Columbia.

However, you won't be able see Ericka, Marie, Gisèle and Pat on the live Global TV coverage.

That's because the televised event is only for the Really Important Awards like the Best Comedy Series and the Best Sports Host.

And everybody knows that kids aren't nearly as important as Ron MacLean and Kenny vs. Spenny and nobody wants to see a bunch of people from some bratty kids' show getting an award on national television, right?

So if she wins, Ericka and her friends will collect their silverware at a more intimate affair in Toronto on October 17 with none of the live-broadcast botherations of the big November 4 gala.
