SUDBURY - Making it as a musician in northern Ontario takes more than writing and playing good music. Artists also need to understand the business side of show business.

That is why Music and Film in Motion is launching Webinar Wednesdays. This weekly webinar series throughout June will offer musicians across the north a chance to learn some key skills and best practices from some of the music industry’s leading professionals.

“We have tons of talent across northern Ontario and we want to help share the knowledge that can help them build their careers,” said Jen McKerral, music outreach officer at MFM. “We hope that these webinars will give artists the tools to help them turn their passion into a solid career.”

Every Wednesday in June, these free lunch hour webinars will feature industry experts to address topics such as the ins and outs of operating as a business, how social media can be used to build an audience and market your music, the importance of music videos and tips on making your own, and even how to generate media attention for your work.

“This is an exciting opportunity for musicians in the north,” said McKerral. “This is the first time that we have been able to offer this level of expertise and reach such a wide audience. Even if you have been in the business for a while, I am sure that there will be something new to learn and all you need is an internet connection.”

For more information and details about each of the webinars please check out our website, or our Facebook page. There you can see the full schedule and sign up to participate in one or all of the webinars.
