About The Good Lovelies

Sue Passmore and Kerri Ough became friends back in grade school where they were introduced through a Grade 2/Grade 3 split class and performed in the la Jeunesse choir for many years.

Sue and Caroline Brooks met celebrating New Years 2000 and soon after Sue would open for Caroline’s band (The Brooks Sisters).

All three girls would book solo acts through out the following years and invite each other to perform on stage as either opening acts or backing musicians until Dec. 15, 2006 when the Good Lovelies made their official debut.

Fittingly, it was Sue that named the band that night and they have remained best friends over the years.

With a JUNO and four CFMA awards to their name in recent years, live CD recordings and many cross Canada tours, including the last time they visited Sault Ste. Marie with Stuart McLean and the Vinyl Cafe, the pressure to produce the follow up to Let the Rain Fall (2011) was mounting, but the girls did not rush through the process. Instead they let things take their course and let life guide them down the path.

They wanted to expand and hone their musical skills and this time around not be confined to tradition and genre.

With Burning the Plan a long-awaited new album, The Good Lovelies are both fulfilling and defying their so-called musical destiny as a “folk trio.” What makes this Burn the Plan special is that the band’s considerable strengths - winsome songwriting, impeccable vocals and triangulated charisma - don’t tell the full story.

There’s a new spirit of adventurousness that gives Burn the Plan an extra spark; the album is permeated with textures and tones from musical worlds away.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased for $35 at the Box Office in the Station Mall. To learn more about The Good Lovelies, please visit www.goodlovelies.com.
