Juno-nominated comedian Matt Wright coming to The Loft

Comedian Matt Wright brings his standup comedy to The Loft on Dec. 8.

A comedian who just received a Juno nomination for best comedy album, is bringing his standup routine to the Sault.

Comedian Matt Wright is also a writer for CBC-TV’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes and has appeared on The Debaters.

He will be headlining a comedy show at The Loft at Algoma Conservatory on Thursday, Dec. 8, as part of YukYuk's Comedy On Tour.

Wright is an award winning standup comedian, writer, actor, and director who has headlined clubs and theatres from St. John's to Vancouver. 

He has made televised appearances at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and Halifax Comedy Festival. 

He was named as a national finalist at the Just For Laughs Homegrown Competition, a national semi-finalist in the Sirius XM Canada's Next Top Comic competition, and was named "Best Comedian" by The Overcast Magazine 2014, 2015, and 2016.

Wright’s album "Vasectomy Baby" went to No. 2 on the iTunes Canadian Comedy charts and can be heard across North America on SiriusXM.

Also an accomplished actor/director, his short film "Wife and Death" was an official selection at multiple film festivals and earned him the "Best Emerging Filmmaker" award at the 2016 Nickel Film Festival. 

His follow-up film "Snowstorm Roulette" was chosen to compete in the CBC Short Film Faceoff, and was nominated for "Best International Comedy Short" at the Austin Comedy Short Film Festival.

Also appearing will be comedy host/MC Gilson Lubin, a former MTV Canada host and Canadian Comedy Award winner as a standup comedian. 

His comedy album "Foreign and Legal" airs on Sirius XM and has appeared on Comedy Central's Premium Blend, HBO’s Def Jam Comedy series, Kevin Hart's LOL Network and Comedy Now CTV. 

Versatile with audiences, the Toronto-bred comedian delivers a mixture of storytelling and social commentary.

The Loft at the Algoma Conservatory is at 75 Huron St., south of Bay Street downtown.

Doors for the Dec. 8 show open at 6:15 p.m. Show starts at 7 p.m.
