Women and men are invited to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2019 at the Northern Grand Gardens in support of Sault Area Hospital Mental Health Programs.

Guests attending this event are encouraged to wear their wedding dress again, or other special occasion attire that they may not necessarily have worn again. Attendees may choose to wear a bridesmaid dress, prom or graduation dress, groomsman suit, or tuxedo.

The “Wear It Again” concept was an idea proposed by Natashia Schwarz who collaborated with a group of local women including Amanda Carchidi at Ivory Lane Collective. “I wanted to be able to raise awareness for Mental Health in our community and what a better way to do it then to give people an opportunity to dress up and enjoy a fun night out,” says Schwarz.

All proceeds from this event go to Sault Area Hospital Mental Health Programs. Tasha Varpio, Community and Engagement Coordinator at the Sault Area Hospital Foundation said, “The Wear it Again gala provides the opportunity to raise awareness and create positive change in our community. The hospital’s mental health programs will benefit from the support of this event.”

The evening promises to be highly entertaining and inspirational too. The hilarious and talented Timothy Murphy will be emcee for the evening and will deliver short comedic skits relating to the events theme. Guest speaker Kelsey Dugas, KDC Counselling, will be speaking on Youth Mental Health. A silent auction will be held to assist in fundraising and the evening will finish with dancing and music by DJ Masi Entertainment.

Contests will be held throughout the evening to award the “best dressed” guests. Categories include; Best Prom King & Queen, Most Extravagant/Unique, Oldest Bridal Gown and 007 Look-A-Like. Prizes donated by Flowers with Flair and M&M Meats will be awarded to the winners.

Schwarz was married this past September and looks forward to wearing her wedding dress again but remarked, “We want the public to know that this event is open to everyone, even if you do not have a wedding dress. You can really wear any dress again and we appreciate the support of all who are attending!”

Tickets for the Wear It Again Gala are on sale now at Ivory Lane Collective and Sault Area Hospital Foundation. Tickets are $60 each and include a five course dinner, door prize, photo booth and entertainment.

Event Sponsors

Main sponsors of this event include; Ivory Lane Collective, Compass Imaging Group, SooToday, Jeanettes Custom Cakes, KDC Couselling and Koach Katrina. Prize donations and silent auction items have been generously donated by many local businesses and organizations.
