George hopes last night was 'the start to a long and beautiful relationship' (16 photos)

George Thorogood and the Destroyers played to 2,000 at the Essar Centre

During their very first visit to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, George Thorogood and the Destroyers delivered the hits to an audience of 2,000 at the Essar Centre.

“We hope it’s the start to a long and beautiful relationship,” Thorogood told the crowd.

The Sault setlist didn’t disappoint, opening with Rock Party and including Who Do You Love?, The Fixer, I Drink Alone, Get a Haircut, Move It On Over, Gear Jammer, and Bad To The Bone.

But it was House Rent Blues/One Bourbon One Scotch and One Beer early into the evening that coaxed the crowd to its feet and into the show.

And in it they stayed.

“It’s so nice to hear bourbon, scotch and beer sung in those beautiful Canadian accents, eh,” Thorogood joked.

His current Badder Than Ever Canadian tour will head to London, Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa before dipping back into the United States.

Opening for George Thorogood and the Destroyers at the Essar Centre was Joplin, Missouri’s Ben Miller Band who immediately won over a mob of new Canadian fans.
