NEWS RELEASE
SUPERIOR HEIGHTS
******************
Get a preview of the upcoming Superior Heights production of Mamma Mia (which runs May 28-31) tomorrow night, May 9 at their Greek dinner fundraiser and/or Spring Arts Night, both at Superior Heights.

The authentic Greek dinner will be prepared by the Culinary Arts students and a sing-a-long hosted by the cast of Mamma Mia. The fundraiser will be held in the cafeteria and after dinner the cast will lead the audience in some favourite ABBA songs from the show. There are less than a dozen seats left for the Fundraiser with the proceeds going to the Culinary Arts program and the Musical Theatre program. Email [email protected] for tickets $25 for adults, $12.50 for students.

The May 9 (5:30 p.m. start) Greek Fundraiser dinner (Mamma Mia themed) is being coordinated by Jason Zachary of the Culinary Arts program. Inspired by the setting of the classic film, the cuisine for the evening will be all authentic Greek food! Prepared by culinary arts students in our bistro, this is a menu not to be missed: roasted chicken souvlaki with tzatziki, mediterranean roasted potatoes, pickled cucumber salad, roasted red bell pepper salad, black olive tapenade, hummus and fresh bread and pita chips, dessert with coffee and punch.

The highlight of the evening won’t just be food, however. We will be joining the cast of Mamma Mia as they lead us in a sing-a-long of all of ABBA’s favourite tunes — classics like Dancing Queen and Super Trouper and favourites like Waterloo and Fernando. And of course — Mamma Mia!

Grab your dancing shoes, don’t forget a pink boa and warm up those vocals cords as you get the chance to belt out everyone’s favourite 70s disco-inspired hits. Sing-a-long starts at 6:15 p.m. under Anthony Aceti  and his talented cast. Costumes are encouraged — so dig through the back of your closets for the best of your 70s vintage awesomeness! Prizes will be awarded for most creative, best dressed and most authentic costumes!

Spring Arts Night showcases a number of arts at Superior Heights, including musical theatre. Starting at 7 p.m., the event is free admission, and all are welcome. A concert featuring the cast of Mamma Mia is slated for 8 p.m. With something from every department, this is an event that celebrates students’ success and the diversity of talent we have at Superior Heights. Featuring the cast of Mamma Mia, visual art students, design from the cosmetology class, musicians and dancers from our arts classes and more!
