'From the Sublime to the Ridiculous' returns to the stage

Give the gift of laughter and music this holiday season. Tickets are now on sale for Algoma University’s third annual From the Sublime to the Ridiculous, featuring world-renowned pianists Duo Turgeon and local comedians, The Comedics, on Feb. 23, 2018 at The Water Tower Inn.
 
Duo Turgeon consists of pianists Anne Louise-Turgeon and Edward Turgeon, members of Algoma U’s music faculty, who have established themselves as one of North America’s preeminent piano duos, having performed hundreds of concerts around the world. Duo Turgeon is the only North American piano duo to have taken first prizes in both the International Schubert Competition for Piano Duos (Czech Republic) and the Murray Dranoff International Two Piano Competition (Miami).
 
The Comedics is a group of doctors and associates that specialize in keeping their audience in stitches by blending satire with music. Over the past 20 years, The Comedics have donated their time and talent to events that have raised over $2 million for local charitable groups like the Bon Soo Winter Carnival, Canadian Red Cross, Relay for Life, Sault Area Hospitals, and the Sault Theatre Workshop. The group has received individual Volunteer of the Year awards from the Government of Canada as well as the Sault Ste. Marie Medal of Merit.
 
Money raised from this fundraiser will be used to create scholarships for students studying music at Algoma U, as well as outfitting the program with more instruments for students to perform with.
 
Doors open at 7 p.m. with entertainment beginning at 7:30 p.m.
