Downtown Outhouse Race registration now open

SAULT STE. MARIE, MICH. - The Sault Ste. Marie Downtown Development Authority is now registering teams for the 15th annual Downtown Sault Ste. Marie Outhouse Races. Outhouse dimensions are 3’x4’x6’ consisting of three walls to the correct dimensions and must be mounted on skis.

Outhouses can be constructed with wood, cardboard etc. Interested participants can find additional information on design requirements and registration online.

Outhouse Race teams consist of five people; one riding and four pushing and pulling the outdoor thrones to the finish line.

First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in Downtown Dollars to the fastest outhouses. Teams are also encouraged to get creative with their outhouse designs to win the title of best designed outhouse for prizes!

Downtown Sault Ste. Marie Outhouse Races take place Saturday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. on Portage Avenue near 1668 Winery and Lockside Brewery and The Palace Restaurant and Saloon.
