With two shows in the next four months, ART thrilled to share details about their October production of Evil Dead: The Musical and announce the auditions for their December production of It’s A Wonderful Life – the Radio Play.

Evil Dead: The Musical takes all the elements of the cult classic films The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness and combines them for one of the craziest, funniest, and bloodiest theatrical experiences of all time.

Gregory Callaghan, Megan Wigmore, Amanda Kemp-McLeish, Christina Johnson, Stephen Ruscio-Gagnon, Kara Colynuck, Steven Hewgill, Mike Doherty, Ethan Powley and Chuck Holgate will be telling the story of five college students who go to an abandoned cabin in the woods, and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons.

You don’t need to be a fan of Evil Dead to love this show. You don’t need to be a fan of horror to love this show. You don’t even need to be a fan of musicals to love this show.

As long as you like having fun…this show is for you – it’s a pure comedy start to finish!

Where: Grand Gardens Downtown, 68 Dennis Street
When: Oct. 30 - Nov. 2

Tickets Available Online at www.ARTinSSM.com: at Grand Gardens North in person or call us at 705-943-9519. Show only $35.00, Dinner and Show $60.00, Splash Zone – Show Only $40, Splash Zone – Dinner and Show $65.00. Limited Splash Zone seats available!

What is a splash zone? Buy your ticket in this part of the theatre to be splattered with zombie blood during the show. Plastic ponchos will be provided – but maybe don’t wear your favorite outfit.  Disclaimer: blood *should* be non-staining but any marks left behind will not be the responsibility of ART or Grand Gardens if tickets have been purchased in the Splash Zone areas.

Open auditions will be held at Grand Gardens Downtown (68 Dennis Street) from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 for It’s a Wonderful Life – the Radio Play. Based on the classic holiday movie, George Bailey is a generous and well-meaning man who has become too downcast and tired to continue to live. With the help of a lovable angel, George is shown what life would be like if he was never born. It captures the true heart and spirit of the holidays.

This version is staged as a live radio play, allowing actors to voice characters that could look sound completely different than the actor looks. ART is looking for the townies of Bedford Falls and some amazing sound effect technicians to help us take the audience on an auditory journey.

Selections of script will be provided to read and anyone who thinks they can recreate the sound of ice cracking, a door shutting, phones ringing, and cars driving – all in real time and on stage – is encouraged to come out on Sept. 21. The town of Bedford Falls has everyone in it from young to old – bring as many voices you can for as many characters you would like to try.

Where: Grand Gardens Downtown, 68 Dennis Street
When: Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Tickets will be available for It’s a Wonderful Life – the Radio Play in early October. Follow the Algoma Repertory Theatre Facebook page or visit www.ARTinSSM.com to sign up for the mailing list to stay up-to-date on the company’s latest information.
