COVID-19: Some of the events we'll be missing in 2020

A number of arts, entertainment, and community events have been cancelled or postponed

As the global COVID-19 pandemic continues, and health and safety concerns remain a priority, numerous arts, culture and entertainment events have been cancelled or postponed across the region. 2020 event cancellations and postponements include:

Wabi Sabi Exhibition and Sale
The committee for the Wabi Sabi Fine Craft Exhibition and Sale has cancelled this August’s 20th Anniversary event. This unique artistic event is scheduled to return in 2021 in Richard’s Landing on St. Joseph Island.

International Bridge Walk
Hosted by the Sault Ontario and Michigan Chambers of Commerce, 34th annual Bridge Walk and Bicycle Parade at the International Bridge will not be held this year. Read More.

Mackinac Bridge Walk
Happening since 1958, this year's annual Mackinac Bridge Walk has been cancelled. The event is expected to return in 2021. Read more.

Go North Music Festival
The 4th edition of the St. Joseph Island festival has been cancelled. This year’s event was scheduled for July 10-11, 2020. For those who had already purchased ticket for this year’s festival, full refunds are now available, or these tickets can be used in 2021. Read more.

Rotaryfest
The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie has made the decision to postpone Rotaryfest, The Sault’s Summer Festival. At this time, there will be no event in July. The local tradition dates back to the first parade put on by the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie in 1922. Read more.

Evening at Hogwarts: Prisoner of Azkaban
This year's annual Canadian Cancer Society fundraiser was scheduled to take place at The Machine Shop on Saturday, Nov. 7. Tickets for the 2020 had not yet gone on sale. The event will be rescheduled for the fall of 2021. Read more.

Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides
The Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides originally reported to be cancelled will be taking place on May 31 as a virtual event. Read more.

Northern Lights Festival Boreal
Sudbury's Northern Lights Festival Boréal (NLFB) is the signature music and arts festival of Northern Ontario, happening since 1972. The organization has made the inevitable decision to cancel its festival scheduled for July 9-12, 2020, due to the COVID-19 crisis, and the evolving health and safety concerns in this unprecedented time. Hilton Beach summer events
All events in Hilton Beach on St. Joseph Island scheduled for this summer have been cancelled. This includes Arts at the Dock, the annual Car Show, and Hilton Beach Community Night.

Fringe North
2020 Fringe North International Theatre Festival is cancelled due to the ongoing uncertainty created by COVID-19 Pandemic. We are looking forward to returning with affordable live theatre from around the world Aug. 12-22, 2021. Read more.

Sylvan Circle Tour
The 20th anniversary of the annual Sylvan Valley tour was originally scheduled for Sept. 19, 2020. The event has been postponed until 2021. Read more.

Agawa Tour Train
The Agawa Tour Train is canceled until Sept. 1, 2020. Read more.

OFRA Harvest Fest
The Ontario Finnish Resthome Association has cancelled its Harvest Fest draw and postponed the Harvest Fest event originally scheduled for Sept. 8, 2020. Read more.

Queen Street Cruise
Originally scheduled for June 12 and 13, 2020, the Queen Street Cruise organizing committee hopes to reschedule for late summer, early fall. Read more.

Goulais River Community Day weekend
This years' Community Day weekend was set to take place in July. Planning committee is hoping to plan a Community Day fall festival this coming Sept. 19 weekend. Read more.

Monster Truck show at GFL Memorial Gardens
The Monster Madness Tour, originally scheduled for May 30, 2020 at the GFL Memorial Gardens, will be postponed to late summer, early fall. Read more.
