Bondar and friends gather for special online event and you're invited

An Evening with Dr. Roberta Bondar and Friends

Jan. 22

Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first female Canadian astronaut in space, Dr. Roberta Bondar, with this online event hosted by Olympian Mark Tewksbury. Dr. Bondar will share her comments and views since her journey as well as her work with the Roberta Bondar Foundation. This virtual evening will also include fans, celebrities and other notable Canadians. All proceeds will support the programs of the Roberta Bondar Foundation. The event will be held on Saturday, Jan. 22 starting at 6 p.m. with a Q&A and discussion with Roberta Bondar, followed by the main event starting at 7 p.m. 

Kombucha Making Workshop

Jan. 26

Holistic nutritionist Brittany Nicholson is hosting a virtual kombucha workshop on Wednesday, Jan. 26, in case you were looking to “brew some booch” at home. Kombucha is a fermented tea drink known for its health benefits. The workshop is $20 to join and will run from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Zoom. Nicholson will teach you how to safely make your own kombucha, what to do, what not to do, and how to perfect the flavours. This is an interactive workshop and participants will receive a copy of Nicholson’s Kombucha Handbook that can be used for future brewing. You can read more about the workshop and register online.

Pop Culture: Music and Sports Trivia Night

Jan. 27

Support the children of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma region with this virtual trivia night held by the Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore. All you need is a computer or tablet, a smartphone, the free Kahoot app, and trivia knowledge, of course. The trivia night will start at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27 via Zoom and will run for two hours. Participants will be playing as individuals, so be sure to purchase a separate ticket for each player.

Family Movie Night: Encanto

Jan. 28

Watch the new Disney movie, Encanto, with the Northern Outlet’s virtual family movie night on Friday, Jan. 28 starting at 6 p.m. Encanto is a 2021 Disney film about a family in Colombia. The movie will be shown via Zoom and will have subtitles in Spanish. Registration for this family event can be done online.
