Artist Bill Gerrish to speak at genealogy meeting

On Tuesday, June 18, at 7 p.m., Chippewa County Genealogical Society will host local visual artist, Bill Gerrish, owner of Homage Creative Arts.

He will discuss the making of custom one-of-a-kind shadowboxes and how best to archive your cherished family keepsakes for generations to come.

The program will be held in the Community Room at Bayliss Public Library [in Sault Michigan].

A research session will follow, where the public may use the library’s genealogical and historic resources, including Ancestry Library Edition database that is co-funded by CCGS.

The evening events are free and open to the public.

Bill Gerrish will display computer-generated, pictorial family trees and montages, timelines, military service honours, commemorative, achievement and memento shadowboxes.

Some of Bill's local public work may be viewed at the Palace Restaurant and Saloon, where a large-scale history of the building is displayed in the entrance.

Visit the Chippewa County Historical Society and the Soo Theatre Project to see display assemblages of photos and items from the historic American Café in the form of three-dimensional wall displays.

The Chippewa County Genealogical Society meets at the library on the third Tuesday of every month.  

Bayliss Public Library is now a member of Superior District Library.
