NEWS RELEASE

ALGOMA CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC

*************************
Ô-Celli is coming to The Machine Shop on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Cash bar.

Tickets are available at the door or the Station Mall Box Office. They are $35, or 35 years and under for only $15.

The cello has probably the closest range and tone colour of any instrument to the human voice. Eight cellos together can produce an especially rich blend of sound, similar to the range and variety of an eight person vocal ensemble.

Ô-Celli was brought to life by the shared passion of eight top cellists from Belgium, Germany and France. The program will include a broad-range of both original and arranged pieces.

One of the most beautiful pieces in the classical repertoire is the aria from Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 for eight celli and soprano.

Ô-Celli will be collaborating with our resident-artist, soprano Sarah Gartshore to present this special work.
