Afie Jurvanen, better known in the Canadian indie music scene as Bahamas, is scheduled to make a stop in Sault Ste. Marie at the Sault Community Theatre Centre on March 20, 2019. It’s part of a tour celebrating his January 2018 release, Earthtones, which will also visit venues in Sudbury, Barrie, and North Bay.

He isn’t from the Bahamas, but was raised in Barrie and now calls Toronto home. The Juno Award-winning artist has been recording and performing under the monicker since 2009.

Of Earthtones, Afie says, “I wrote songs about having success, having kids, and having depression. I wrote songs about going on tour, going back in time and going in circles. I wrote songs about my otherworldly wife, my jerk dad and my garbage relationship with my brother.

“It’s a very positive 10-song album about having a joie de vivre for the joys of life… Hope you enjoy the music as much as I enjoyed making it.”

Tickets for Bahamas’ Earthtones tour stop in the Sault go on sale Dec. 20 at 10 a.m. online and in person at the Community Box Office in the Station Mall. The performance will feature special guest Ben Rogers. Show time is 8 p.m.
