Al Wood, of the Ottawa-based acoustic roots blues duo Red Wood Central, will be in town for the long weekend and playing gigs at both Loplops and the Downbeat Lounge.

With his musical partner Michelle "Red" April, Wood formed Red Wood Central in 1995. They have released two CDs (with a third on the way) filled with trimmed down blues with old-style picking and folk-inspired harmonies.

Wood's harmonica skills have been noted by many in the musical "know" as something to be heard.

First off, Wood will be joining the Sault's Rhythm Section on Saturday, July 30th at Loplops Lounge. The Rhythym Section are a three-piece jazz improv group featuring Lindsay Pugh, Frank Deresti and Cliff Alloy. The show begins at 9:30 PM.

Loplops Lounge is located at 651 Queen Street East (next to the Duke of Windsor). For more information on Loplops, visit here.

Then on Sunday, July 31st, Wood will be joining blues master Lindsay Pugh for a special show at the Downbeat Lounge. The mix of dobro and harmonica for a traditional set of songs will be somthing you do not want to miss.

Show begins at 10:30 PM. The Downbeat Lounge is located at 740 Queen Street East (across from PUC). For more information on the Downbeat Lounge, click here.
