The annual Soo Zombie Walk is set to return.

After a three-year hiatus, the walk is set to return on Oct. 22.

A release with further details on the event follows:

There are rising reports of Saultites succumbing to a strange infection. Side effects may include a hunger for brains, slow, unbalanced movement, and a sudden urge to groan...

Soo Zombie Walk organizers hope to spread the infectious plight among any humans who dare to visit the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre while a group of resistance fighters will seek to fend off the undead hordes another year.

Whether you've accepted your fate or seek to fight against it, the Soo Zombie Walk returns after a three-year hiatus for its 11th year on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022.

The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre will open its doors to the shambling undead and resistance fighters at 2 p.m. for four hours of pre-walk activities and a special Halloween Vendor Show, in partnership with Algoma Maker’s Market! Participants are encouraged to dress up as either zombies or resistance fighters and secret judges will be on the lookout for creative costumes to be awarded during the event!

At 6 p.m. sharp, the undead masses take to the streets.

The undead will lurch from the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre along Bay Street towards Clergue Park, where the resistance fighters will try to fend off the zombie herd. The walk will continue up Brock Street and onto Queen Street back to the Bushplane Museum where closing ceremonies will follow.

And the admission to participate in this ghoulish festival? $10 and a canned good to donate to the Soup Kitchen Community Centre for those 13 and over, Children 5-12 will be $5 and a canned good while Children under 5 can enjoy the event for free, but are encouraged to donate a canned good. Please note it will be cash only accepted at the door.

Volunteers are also being sought to help with this event. High school students are encouraged to participate to earn community hours. Contact us through our Facebook page to get involved!
