A performance in support of Habitat

On the heels of their June 2014 debut full-length release and in the midst of a North American tour, Hamilton's Ash & Bloom will make a stop in Sault Ste. Marie to perform at Loplops on Monday, August 11.

Drawing comparisons to Simon and Garfunkle or Iron and Wine, the duo (also known as Matt McKenna and James Bloemendal) has been performing together for more than a decade.

Ash & Bloom's 12-song Let The Storm Come Out LP was produced by Marc Rogers (Nelly Furtado, The Philosopher Kings, Sarah Harmer) and Karen Kosowski, and includes co-writing credits from Canadian artists Peter Katz, Caroline Brooks (of the Good Lovelies), Julie Crochietere and Rob Szabo.

In 2013, they traveled with Justin Hines on his Vehicle of Change tour, raising awareness at each stop and donating 100 percent of event ticket sales to local charities.

In keeping with the spirit of that tour, Ash & Bloom will be donating proceeds from Sault Ste. Marie show on August 11 to support the work of Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie.

The duo will take the stage at Loplops at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door and may be purchased at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore (corner of North Street and Second Line), Case’s Music, and Shabby Motley Handicraft.
