A fun way to spend a school night (11 photos)

Hollerado returned to Sault Ste. Marie

It’s been about four years since Hollerado’s last Sault Ste. Marie performance. So last night’s show at Loplops, while not sold out, was well attended – especially given it was a school night – and highly appreciated by area fans of the Ottawa four-piece.

But frontman Menno Versteeg thinks Loplops owner Steve Alexander is “stupid” for booking the band at his venue. “We feel like we’re in a comedy club so we just end up talking to the audience all night,” he joked.

And he continued to joke throughout the set, which thankfully wasn’t all talk and still managed to contain some of the power pop that makes Hollerado such a fun time. The setlist included Grief Money, Eloise, Born Yesterday, On My Own, Sorry You’re Alright, Good Day at the Races, Pick Me Up, I Got You, So It Goes, Juliette, Dire Straits’ Money For Nothing, and of course Americanarama.

Hollerado is currently on tour in support of the band’s third full-length release, Born Yesterday. Crocks in Thunder Bay will host the boys tonight before they carry on across the country for shows in Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria, Whistler and many others.
