2017 Soo Film Festival calls for entries

SAULT STE MARIE, MI - The fourth installment of the Soo Film Festival is set for Sept. 15-17, 2017. The festival is once again headquartered in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, at the historic Soo Theatre.

The festival has issued an open call for entries. Beginning Apr. 4 all genres and nonfiction in feature and shorts categories will be accepted online exclusively through Film Freeway.

The festival committee has set a fee-free early bird deadline of May 12. The regular deadline is Jun. 23 and requires a $10 entry fee. Late entries must be submitted by Jul. 7 with an entry fee of $15.

The selected films will be announced the first week of August. Filmmakers will find complete details Apr. 4 on the Submit a Film section of the festival’s website, soofilmfestival.org.

Festival President Taylor Brugman: “Four years later and we're just as excited as the first. We anticipate this may be the biggest one yet. The opportunity to show off more incredible talent is one we intend to take every advantage of.”

Soo Film Festival 2017 is open to filmmakers worldwide, but will continue to emphasize and showcase work from the Great Lakes region.

The 2017 Soo Film Festival organizing committee is Taylor and Liz Brugman, Allison Youngs, Mark Dobias, Pat Egan, Susan James, and Jason Markstrom.
