"Everyday is Saturday. That's the truth about the Inner City Surfers."

This is what member Brad Lacell had to say about the band in a December 2005 interview with Truth Explosion Magazine. And man, he ain't kidding. A Surfers show is like watching 4 pre-teens with ADD and raging hormones on speed at a wet t-shirt contest. They party, they drink, they joke, they get naked and once in a while they plug in and expose their true talent to the world.

Dustin Jones plays guitar and sings. Occasionally he gets behind the drum kit. He has short spiky rock star hair. His voice is edgy but smooth. That's him...smooth, aptly demonstrated by the "LADIES C U IN THE VAN" in giant silver letters on the back of his guitar...that's how smooth Mr. Jones is. He likes the chicks.

Dave Bahun plays guitar and drums. Occasionally he opens his mouth to let out his deep baritone voice. He is the quiet one. He has long hair and a beard that hide his handsome face. He can code HTML like a champ. He thinks the chicks don't want him.

Mike Hawdon plays drums, guitar and sings. Occasionally he...wait...he ALWAYS gets naked. He likes to crowd surf. He has curly blond hair and looks 14 years old. He has a deceivingly sweet and innocent voice. He likes to prance like Mick Jagger and stick mics in his underwear. The chicks like him.

Brad Lacell plays bass and sings. Occasionally he eats something other than peanut butter. He writes some of the most poetic lyrics I have ever heard. He has amazing tattoos. He has a really long ponytail. He has a voice like Georgia asphalt in the summer...hot! If he was a chick, he'd marry John Prine.

Their music combines the driving rhythm of a freight train with soaring melodies and catchy riffs, drawn from influences such as Johnny Cash, DOA and the Ventures. In one moment they can harmonize like angels and in the next viciously rock out like demons. But most of all, the Inner City Surfers like to have fun.

I called them to ask if there was anything they wanted me to include in this write up. It proved difficult to get any info out of them at all, but I did learn that they were all raised by otters....except for Mike. He was a sponsored child they painted white after purchasing him on the black market.

These 4 maniacs will be performing both Friday June 30 and Saturday July 1 at Foggy Notions at the corner of Queen and East Street. And now that the band is officially sponsored by Jagermeister, I'm sure the hi-jinx factor will border on insane.
