Sudbury-based telecommunication provider Sunwire announced it has launched internet, phone and TV services to more markets across Northern Ontario.

The growth-minded company said in a Sept. 9 news release that it's made inroads into Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay, Kenora, Dryden and other communities.

“For the launch of Sunwire’s offerings across our newest Northern Ontario service areas, we wanted to ensure that we continued to provide the best service available at an affordable price along with the customer service experience that clients deserve,” said Derrick Chartrand, Sunwire's communications director in a statement.

Sunwire started out as a software development firm in 2009, realizing early success with its corporate telecommunication platform, the SolSwitch, before expanding into business and residential high-speed internet for clients with a suite of services.

Beyond Sudbury, Sunwire moved into markets across northeastern Ontario, including Elliot Lake, Espanola, Kapuskasing, Kirkland Lake, New Liskeard, Sturgeon Falls and Timmins followed by expansion into southern Ontario in 2018.

Sunwire said they're all about client empowerment in retaining its development roots to create unique and customized tools to improve operations and generate a "positive customer service experience."

In the release, Sunwire said it offers a "customizable self-serve and straight-forward approach" with no hidden fees or locked-in contract terms — "what you see is what you get." There are bundling options to add IP TV services, which come in three basic plans and include all the most popular channels with the option to add extra movie, sports or Français packs.

“Sunwire was able to achieve early success by developing a state-of-the-art, fully customizable and scalable IP-based business phone solution," said Alex Levesque, Sunwire's vice-president of sales.

The company, founded by Jason Legault, took home a Northern Ontario Business Award in 2020.
