Letter: Jane's Walk shows the Sault through a variety of lenses

We have been visiting Sault Ste. Marie for more than thirty years, enjoying the City in its many forms: its beautiful architecture, the waterfront, the lock tours on the Chief Shingwauk, shopping and dining in so many favourite spots...

Last weekend, we had the privilege to participate in Jane's Walk, an event honouring the birthday of Jane Jacobs', activist, author, and journalist. What an amazing experience which began Friday night with the Film Screening at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre and ended Sunday afternoon at the Gore Street Cafe!

It was such a pleasure traveling through the City as part of Jane's Walk with knowledgeable guides sharing with us the history, the stories, the patterns of development, the folk lore from each area. Through a variety of lenses, we learned so much about this beautiful part of Northern Ontario. The sun shone, the walkers shared their stories too, and that weekend is now a special memory for us to treasure.

We applaud the organizers of this second Jane’s Walk. May their vision for the City's future be an ongoing journey that enhances its heritage, its development, and its well-being for this remarkable historic community and its citizens.

With our sincere appreciation for such a special weekend in your City.
