Sharing leadership through virtual She Leads event

Registration is now open for the second annual She Leads, hosted by the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce

The Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their second annual She Leads event next month.

This event is a chance to celebrate women in leadership as they share their insights and experiences in life and business. This year, it will be held virtually on Dec. 10 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

The event will be emceed by Sault-born Trish Rainone, a screenwriter, director, stand-up comedian, producer and actress. Rainone co-created the comedy web series, My Roommate's an Escort and plays Heather in seasons one and two.

Dawn Madahbee Leach, general manager of the Waubetek Business Development Corporation, will be the keynote presenter.

The corporation is an Aboriginal financial institution that provides financing and economic services to Aboriginal entrepreneurs and First Nation communities throughout northeast Ontario and southern Ontario. Under her leadership, Waubetek has invested more than $100 million in 3,500 Aboriginal businesses who experience a business success rate of 94 per cent.

Leach received the 2020 INDSPIRE Award in the Business and Commerce Category and is a recipient of the Anishnawbek Nation’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the MNP-AFOA Canada Excellence in Aboriginal Leadership Award in 2017 and was celebrated as one of Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network in 2018.  

Tickets for She Leads will be $25 plus tax for Chamber members, and $35 plus tax for non-Chamber members. Once you register, you will receive a curated gift bag from local businesses.
