Every year, the Sault Ste. Marie Beautification Committee hosts the City Beautification Awards, a contest that recognizes the gardening efforts of local residents and businesses. This year, the annual awards will be canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“We know the annual City Beautification awards are something that many work hard for and look forward to,” said Richard Walker, volunteer city beautification coordinator, in a news release. “As a volunteer committee, it is difficult for us to manage the program this year given the restrictions on garden centres limiting capacity, physical distancing and health and safety measures. Having multiple judges in people’s yards and gardens would be problematic.”

The Sault Ste. Marie Beautification Committee thanks its local sponsors and contributors for their support, and looks forward to celebrating the aesthetic achievements of local gardeners in 2021.
