Sault College has confirmed Algoma Public Health (APH) notified the institution a member of its school community tested positive for COVID-19 Wednesday.

The person is self isolating, stated Rick Webb, Sault College human resources and communications director, in an email to SooToday received Friday.

“The member was on campus for a limited time and was masked and socially distanced during that time, as were the people they came into contact with. APH has advised us that this is a low risk incident and all people who were in contact with the member were contacted by APH and are following public health guidance. APH has asked them to monitor themselves and to self-isolate if they develop any symptoms.”

“The College has followed all of our safety and cleaning protocols and directives by APH. At this time, no other actions or disruptions to campus services is anticipated,” Webb wrote.

Webb stated all internal stakeholders have been notified about the incident and the school’s COVID-19 spreadsheet on the College’s website has been updated as well.

Sault College has reported two other COVID-19 cases, one on Sept. 23, the other Oct. 9 (both cases resolved) during the pandemic.
