Ontario Health is reporting 379 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 this morning, bringing the provincial total to 4,726.
There are now 153 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Ontario, and there have been 1,802 recoveries. There are 614 patients hospitalized for COVID-19, of those, 233 are in intensive care units and 187 of those are on ventilators.
Ontario Health reports it has tested 81,364 people for COVID-19, and there are 691 tests still awaiting results. Yesterday, the province reported completing 78,796 test results.
Of the cases confirmed in the province, 19.1 per cent had travelled within 14 days of becoming ill, 14.7 per cent had close contact with a confirmed case, 19.1 per cent are believed to have acquired the virus through community transmission, and 40.7 per cent have exposure information still under investigation.
There are 51 outbreaks declared at long-term care homes in Ontario. An outbreak is declared after a single case is confirmed in a resident or employee at a long-term care facility.
The statistics reported by the province today are current as of 4 p.m. yesterday.
Yesterday, the province reported 309 new cases. The highest daily case report was 462 lab-confirmed cases on April 3.
