New COVID case confirmed by Algoma Public Health

The confirmed case was a result of close contact with a previous confirmed case

Algoma Public Health is reporting a new case of COVID-19 in the Algoma region.

Tested on Nov. 11, the individual is currently self-isolating.

The exposure category is close contact, meaning the individual was in contact with a known confirmed case.

APH cites close contact as "the person acquired their infection through close contact with a known confirmed case. For example, living together with a case, or spending more than 15 minutes with a case while less than 2 metres apart, are considered high risk close contact exposures."

Sunday's confirmed case brings the total number of confirmed cases in Algoma to 58.

Of the 58 confirmed cases in Algoma, 10 remain active at this time.
