NEWS RELEASE
DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION
*************************
After careful consideration and in response to continuing current events, and in consideration of recommended guidelines by the Provincial government, the Downtown Association and the Board of Directors has made the decision to postpone the following events:

  • Poutine Feast (originally scheduled for July 1-5)
  • The July and August Street Parties (originally scheduled for July 16 and Aug. 13)

We have been monitoring the recommendations of both Algoma Public Health and the Provincial government and feel that in the interest of public safety and the continued recommendation of social distancing that this remains the best course of action due to the nature of these events.  We know that many people in the community look forward to these events as much as we enjoy putting them on.

We will continue to monitor recommendations and revisit our event schedule to see if there is an opportunity to potentially reschedule some events (with modifications) if feasible and safe to do so later.

This decision was not an easy one to make and rest assured we will continue to monitor the situation and advise the community of event updates as soon as we can.

In the meantime, please follow the Downtown Association on our social media pages for updates on how you can support our amazing members who are finding innovative ways to engage with the community.

Many of our members are back in business or will be in the days to come and we hope you continue to support your downtown and support local in any way you can. We hope to be able to gather again soon in larger numbers with you, our wonderful community as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.
