Ontario government defends back-to-school plan, despite contradictions

Premier Doug Ford stood by the province's back-to-school plans on Tuesday as federal officials offered up COVID-19-prevention guidelines that appeared to contradict those revealed by provincial officials last week.

Ford's comments came as Ontario's 72 publicly funded school boards worked on firming up their proposals to welcome students back to class. While most of those plans have yet to be finalized, a draft set of guidelines from the country's largest school board suggests sports won't be a part of the upcoming academic year.

Here's how the sailing club is doing during COVID-19

Despite restrictions and cancelled races, the Algoma Sailing Club's membership continues to grow.

Members have been cautioned whenever possible to avoid close proximity to the American shoreline to mitigate any possibility of misinterpretation of COVID-19 restrictions due to the uncertainty within the various levels of government.

Algoma Sailing Club had also been advised of an increased probability their vessels may be boarded. Restrictions allow travel through US and Canadian waters, but does not permit anchoring, lingering or approaching US vessels by instruction of various US and Canadian agencies.
